Vinos Zanzónico Chardonnay Reserva 2022 received a Gold Medal. This smooth as silk flavorful wine has converted many people to become Chardonnay lovers for the first time.
The Vinos Zanzónico 2022 Chardonnay Reserva wine is characterized by its bright straw color, bouquet of pineapple and orange peel, and flavors of fresh tropical fruits. It has balanced body from front to back palate and a long silky finish. This 100% Chardonnay wine was barrel aged in French oak barrels (25% new oak and 75% single use) for 10 months, and bottle aged for four months before release.
The Vinos Zanzónico Chardonnay Reserva 2022 is often enjoyed on its own, (maybe on a terrace or in a hammock!) but is definitely also a food wine, beautifully paired with appetizers, shellfish, fish, pasta, poultry and pork.
Only one other Chardonnay from Mexico (from Valle de Bernal, mainland) earned a gold medal in this competition. Vinos Zanzónico Chardonnay is the only gold medal Chardonnay winner from Baja California.
Elaboration: The Chardonnay grapes are not harvested until they have reached optimum levels of flavor development and maturity. They are picked at night and delivered to the cellar fresh and cool. The grapes then undergo a “whole cluster press” process and are settled into stainless steel tanks for only 24 hours. The wine is then moved to French oak barrels for barrel fermentation. It is stirred periodically to enhance flavor development, and will remain in the barrels for approximately 12 months before bottling.
Aging: 12 months in French oak barrels; 25% new barrels 75% of single use
